Construction 2019

This new private gallery is an addition to an existing substantial brick house and estate. The owners have a substantial collection of modern art and needed a space where this could be shown. In Addition the space would act as a study and retreat from the main house.

The gallery is formed by two pitched roof volumes and a glazed link with oak doors leading to the new courtyard. The materials are brick glass and oak.

The studio space is for visiting artists who will be able to work and live in the space.

The building is formed from two skins, an outer formed in woven hazel an inner in blockwork with the gap between being used for ventilation. The intention was very much to form an abstract sculptural volume.
