Construction: 2010 – 2012
This 26-storey tower of 101 flats stands on the north east corner of developer British Land’s 23-acre office campus on the Euston Road. It is a highly visible building and is a strong element in views from Regent’s Park. There is also some retail and office space and the affordable housing occupies the lower block. In the high-rise the private housing ranges from studios to three- bedroom flats and large penthouses.
The unique feature of the tower is its unusual façade treatment developed by the architect to avoid the almost universally bland treatment of tower block façades. The strong woven appearance is achieved by using aluminium wedge shaped panels, integrating balconies and making it impossible to scale the building. At the top of the tower the woven elements are transformed into a tall colonnade which provides an airy termination and an elegant setting for the penthouses.
