Stephen Marshall was born in Glasgow and studied architecture at the University of Strathclyde (B.Sc. First Class) and at Harvard University (Harkness Fellow). After working with Terry Farrell & Partners he formed Munkenbeck+Marshall Architects with Alfred Munkenbeck. In this firm he was lead partner for all the projects listed here (click on a project for pictures and further details).
Central to these is a clarity of initial concept supported by careful detailing and selection of materials. Amongst these projects are Gainsborough Studios, Nile Street Residential, Paddington Walk, Bermondsey Square, NEQ and Roche Court Galleries. Many of these projects have received critical acclaim in terms of RIBA or CABE awards.
Stephen has been an assessor for the American Institute of Architects awards as well as assessing RIBA awards. This year he was architectural assessor for the Affordable Housing awards and member of the assessing team for the RIBA Manser award. He has taught at various institutions and lectures extensively. In 2004 he was made an associate member of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland.
