North Houghton Manor is a grade II listed building in the parish of Houghton, Hampshire.
Our work involved careful adjustments and additions to the existing fabric to better suit the needs of the building owners whilst retaining and enhancing the character of the buildings. This work was carried out in close consultation with the local planning officers.
A late 19th century stable block was adapted to provide new living accommodation. A new stair within an enclosure formed from oak frames with double glazed panels was added. The oak frame sits on a flint base to match the detailing of the existing building. On other elevations masonry openings were extended to floor level and new oak and glass windows and doors were inserted.
Elsewhere on the estate an existing garage building was rebuilt to form a new study room. This space was built to match the historic building with improved insulation and weatherproofing. Estate wide sustainability improvements were also made with a new air source heat pump system added.
